Eabin Mathew
Faculty – Food & Beverage Production

Prof. Eabin Mathew is a Chef by profession and has more than three decades of hard-core experience in Hospitality Education and Industry. Having completed his Diploma in Hotel Management from the prestigious Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Chennai (then Madras) in the year 1992, he went on to complete his Master’s in Tourism Management from Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai, Tamil Nadu; Master’s in Business Administration from Pondicherry University, Pondicherry; and Bachelor of Arts from Osmania University, Hyderabad.

Prof. Mathew is passionate about Food and Beverage and his expertise lies in Indian Cuisine and Bakery & Confectionery. He possesses excellent knowledge of International Cuisines too. He is also a Culinary Consultant and mentors aspiring chefs, entrepreneurs, and students in Culinary Arts. The students who he has coached, guided, and mentored hold leadership positions in different sectors of the Hospitality and Tourism Industry in India and abroad.

Over the years Prof. Mathew has presented several Research Papers on Sustainable Tourism, Niche Tourism, Wine Tourism and Rural Development, Women Entrepreneurship – Challenges and Opportunities in the Hospitality Industry, and Responsible Management Education in the Development of Society.

A strict disciplinarian, Prof. Mathew has spent well over 18 years as Principal/Director of various Hotel Management, Commerce, and Management Institutions. He has served as a Member of – the Board of Studies, Member – Board of Examiners of various Universities he has been associated with and is very active in Curriculum Development in Hospitality Management. His areas of interest include Sustainable Food Resources Management, Sustainable Gastronomy, Artisanal Foods, Indian Cuisine and its Lost Treasures, and more.

Prof. Suresh Nechikkottil
Academic Administrator &
Faculty – Food and Beverage Service

Prof. Suresh Nechikkottil has carved a niche in the arena of hospitality education within a span of nearly three decades.He has been pivotal behind the glorious success of a multitude of Hotel Management Institutions he is associated with. He is a visionary leader with remarkable abilities of foresight, determination, patience, and perseverance, and has travelled this far, on a successful note. Being an astute harbinger of HospitalityEducation, he was successful in sowing the seeds of hospitality and its operations in the minds of thousands of students from myriad fields of higher secondary learnings. His uncanny ability to dream bigger speaks volumes of the luminary that he is today.

Having completed his Graduation in Hotel Management from the University of Madras, he began his professional journey with Taj Group of Hotels, in Food and Beverage Service. His areas of expertise lie in Wines and Spirits, Food and Beverage Management, Entrepreneurship, and Project Management.

Currently he takes care of the Academic Administration of the Institution and mentors students in the realm of Food & Beverage Service and Management.


Prof. Rajesh Kumar
Program Coordinator &
Faculty – Accommodation Operations

Prof. Rajesh Kumar is a Hotel Management Graduate from Mangalore University, holds aMaster’s Degree in Tourism Management, from Madurai Kamaraj University, Master of Philosophy, and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (HR & Marketing) from Bangalore University. He started his career as Management Trainee at Clarks Group of Hotels, Varanasi in the Food& Beverage Service Department. He has also been involved in an Entrepreneurial Venture and undertook various services like Manpower Planning, Catering Services and Facility Management at the Corporate level. He is also a Certified Advance Food Safety Trainer, Canada.Prof. Rajesh Kumar has attended National and International Conferences and Seminars and presented papers at various levels.

He is also associated with various Universities – as aResource Person for Bharathidasan University (Entrepreneurship Development & Strategic Management);for Mysore University (HR & Marketing); forTata Institute of Social Sciences as Moderatorfor Curriculum and Syllabus framework for Hotel Personnel;Member Board of Studies, Srinivas University, Mangalore; as member Board of Studies, Bangalore North University, Moderator for Accommodation Management atM.S Ramaiah University; and Chairman Board of Examiners,  Bangalore University.

His areas of interest include Revenue and Yield Management, Front Office Management, Accommodation Operations, and Food & Beverage Service Management.


Prof. Praveen Francis
Faculty –Food & Beverage Service

Prof. Praveen is an effective Hospitality Educator with a proven track record of teaching Hospitality Management students for over 15 years. A Graduate in Hotel Management from Bangalore University, he obtained his MBA in Human Resource Management from Annamalai University. Currently he is a Research Scholar in Human Resources Management at Annamalai University.

An expert in Food and Beverage Service, his expertise lies in Food and Beverage Management, Customer Relationship Management, and Wines and Spirits. At BGSIHM he spearheads the liaison with Statutory Bodies and helps implementation of best practices in college programs, college improvement plans, goal setting and progress monitoring.

Prof. Bandana Singh
Faculty –Front Office Management

A senior hospitality management professional with two decades of rich experience in delivering optimal results & business value in Academics and Hospitality Industry. With a M.A. (Tourism Management) and a Graduation in Hotel Management she is well versed and adept in interfacing with customers and handling Front Office Operations, Housekeeping Operations, Travel and Tourism Management, and Soft Skills. Currently, she is a Research Scholar in Sustainability Practices in Accommodations Management and Operations.  

As a Faculty at BGSIHM she promotes an integrated learning experience that involves industry academia collaboration and regular updates and revision of the Hotel Management curriculum. Besides this, her role includes coordinating strategic planning, administration, coordinating research activities, student support, delivering education and contributing to professional practice.

Prof. Drishya Prabhakar K C
Faculty –Hotel Management

With a Specialization in Marketing, Drishya is a post-graduate in Business Administration and boasts of an impressive track record with First Class Distinction in both her Undergraduate and Postgraduate studies from Bangalore University.

Recognized for her exceptional leadership and problem-solving capabilities, she is dedicated to fostering a culture of continuous improvement through effective mentorship, seamlessly integrating administrative efficiency with innovative teaching methodologies.

Notably, Drishya’s contributions to the academic realm extend to impactful Research Presentations on “Network Marketing: The Next Source of Income Generator” and “An Empirical Study on Brand Building of Educational Institutions through Campus Placements” which underscores her commitment to advancing the education sector and nurturing collaborative learning environments.

Beyond academics, her diverse interests include Sports, Literature, Story Telling (fictional or otherwise), and a constant pursuit of new discoveries. 

Prof. Mayadevi P. S.
Faculty – Languages

Prof. Mayadevi carries close to a decade experience in teaching Languages to UG and PG students. She has a M. Phil and a Post Graduation in Malayalam Literature  from the University of Kerala. Besides the above, she also plays an important role in academic and administrative work including coordination with Statutory and Affiliating Bodies, Student Support and Faculty Development Activities. 

Prof. Smitha Mohan
Adjunct Faculty

Prof. Smitha is a seasoned academic and industry expert with over two decades of diverse experience in the Housekeeping domain, specializing in both theoretical and practical aspects of Hospitality Management. With a Masters in Home Science  from Avinashilingam University and, a Masters in Hospitality Management, from Annamalai University, she has developed an extensive knowledge base in Housekeeping Operations, Accommodation Management, Hygiene Standards, and Sustainability Practices.

Throughout her career, Prof. Smitha has been dedicated to imparting knowledge to students, helping them build competencies in Accommodation Management, Guest Satisfaction, and Operational Efficiency. A dedicated educator Prof. Smitha is well versed in Curriculum Development, Instructional Design, and mentoring students to excel in their academic and professional endeavors. She has conducted numerous workshops and seminars on housekeeping practices, latest trends in hospitality, and sustainable housekeeping.

Prof. Smitha believes in a hands-on, experiential approach to teaching, encouraging students to engage actively with industry practices. She fosters a learning environment where students are prepared to face real-world challenges in the hospitality industry with confidence and skill. Additionally, she contributes as Paper Setter and Examiner for Hotel Management Courses of Bangalore University.

Prof. Smitha is the Vice President of Karnataka Chapter of the Professional Housekeepers Association –  a non-profit organization which synergizes professionals, fraternity and vendors by giving a platform of learning, through exhibitions, guest lectures, seminars, workshops. She was Instrumental in framing a new chapter under PHA as PHA YUVA in the year 2018. As a PHA YUVA Mentor she constantly nurtures, enabling students to take up a career in Housekeeping. She has been awarded the Best Mentor Award by Professional Housekeepers Association for two consecutive years – 2022 and 2023.

Prof. Smitha has presented and published several research papers in reputed journals on –   Evolution of E-commerce on Marketing Tourism Product, Millennials in Travel Industry, Sustainable Housekeeping Practices, Role of Technology in Housekeeping Management, Innovative Housekeeping Strategies in the Post-pandemic era. Besides these, she is into training and consultancy services for restaurants and facility management companies.

Currently, Prof. Smitha Mohan is an Adjunct Faculty in Accommodation Operations and Housekeeping Management at BGSIHM

Chef Srabanti Chakraborty
Faculty – Food & Beverage Production

Chef Srabanti Chakraborty serves as an Assistant Professor at BGSIHM, bringing over a decade of experience in both Industrial and Academic settings to her role. She holds a Degree in Hotel Management from Institute of Hotel Management, Kolkata; a PG Diploma in Hospitality, Travel & Tourism Management; and a Masters in Travel and Tourism Management from IGNOU. Currently, she is pursuing a Master’s in Hotel Management from Sunrise University, Alwar.

Her career began as a Hotel Operations Trainee at The Oberoi Grand, Kolkata, and has since worked with prominent properties such as Trident at Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai, and brands like Hyatt, Marriott, and Gokulam Grand. She has experience in pre-opening hotels and retail establishments, including Paul Hotels in Coorg and Lulu Global Mall in Bangalore, where she specialized as a Bakery and Confectionery Chef.

Chef Chakraborty has enhanced her expertise through specialized training in Cake Engineering and Chocolatier at Whitecaps International School of Pastry. Her research work includes international publications on emerging trends in Tourism and Hospitality, Indian Gastronomy, and the use of Bovine Milk substitutes in the Indian market. She has also presented papers on topics such as Ayurveda’s role in the history of cuisine at national conferences.

Her passion for baking is evident in her commitment to training and motivating students, guiding them to achieve significant successes in national competitions, including IFCA, SICA, and the Tamil Nadu Baker’s Federation Indian Bakery EXPO in 2022. In 2019, she earned a Bronze Medal for her chocolate showpiece at the SICA Competition in Bangalore. Additionally, she contributes as Paper Setter and Examiner for Hotel Management Courses of Bangalore University.

Chef Chakraborty’s creativity and dedication have profoundly impacted her students, inspiring them to excel in the hospitality sector and shaping their careers in Baking and Patisserie.
