INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS – 15 AUGUST 2024
On August 15, 2024, India celebrated its 78th Independence Day, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s journey since gaining freedom from British colonial rule in 1947. This day is a reminder of the tireless efforts of countless freedom fighters, leaders, and citizens who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s sovereignty, unity, and dignity.
On August 15, 2024, BGS Knowledge City marked the 78th Independence Day of India with a vibrant celebration filled with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm. The event brought together Students, Faculty, and Staff to honour the nation’s rich history and commemorate the sacrifices made for freedom.
The celebration began early in the morning with the Flag Hoisting Ceremony, where the Chief Guest, Sri Sri Sri Parampujya Dr. Nirmalanandanatha Maha Swamiji, President, Sri Adichunchanagiri Shikshana Trust, along with Sri Sri Dr. Prakashnatha Swamiji, Managing Director, BGS & SJB Group of Institutions and Hospitals, Chef Eabin Mathew, Principal, BGSIHM, and other Principals of Sister Institutions, unfurled the national flag amidst the singing of the national anthem. The sight of the tricolour waving proudly evoked a deep sense of pride among all attendees.
Following the flag hoisting, a series of patriotic speeches were delivered by the invited guests, reflecting on the significance of the day and India’s journey over the last 78 years. The theme of this year’s celebration focused on ‘India at 78: A Vision for the Future,’ emphasizing the role of youth in shaping the country’s future through innovation, sustainability, and social responsibility.
The event continued with cultural performances by students, including patriotic songs, dances, and short skits that highlighted the diversity and unity of India. The performances showcased India’s rich cultural heritage while also underlining the values of freedom, unity, and progress.
In addition, a special exhibition was set up at BGS Knowledge City, displaying art and projects made by students on the theme of India’s freedom struggle, technological advancements, and environmental sustainability. The exhibition was a reminder of the progress India has made and the responsibilities its citizens have toward the nation’s future.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by the Principal, who emphasized the importance of preserving the values of independence and working together for a brighter, inclusive, and sustainable future for India. The celebrations at BGS Knowledge City were not just a tribute to the country’s past but also a call to action for every student to contribute to the nation’s progress and development in the years ahead.
